Fancy Tiles
A Cinnamon Desktop Extension

Recently I have been trying out Linux Mint on my desktop pc. I have grown to like the real estate on my super ultra-wide (32:9) Dell monitor but proper window management is a must with these type of screens. On Windows I have been using Fancy Zones for years. The flexible layouting allows me to arrange my windows just the way I like it.
Linux Mint has window tiling / snapping functionality built-in but I found it to be too rigid for my needs. The existing gTile extension is still based on a grid-like layout where rows and columns span your whole screen. For example, I like my screen to be (roughly) divided into 30%-50%-20% columns with the last column divided into two rows (70%-30%). I was not able to find a good layout that worked for me.
So I developed a new extension called Fancy Tiles. That allows you to create a very flexible layout, use spacings and perform window snapping. You might want to try it out if the current solutions in Cinnamon do not fit your needs.
