Sommige mensen vinden het een beetje vreemd dat ik een persoonlijke domeinnaam heb geregistreerd. En vervolgens: je wilt toch niet dat iedereen alles over je weet?! Mijn reactie daarop is vrij eenvoudig: die informatie is er toch al. Ik wil het gewoon graag onder controle houden. Iemand die echt anderen wil uitpluizen kan via een aantal simpele zoekacties al een heel eind komen. Alles wat ik niet te verbergen heb, hoef ik ook niet te verbergen, dus ik kan het net zo goed overzichtelijk bij elkaar houden.

Ik heb onlangs een boek gelezen van Daniel Gilbert. Daniel Gilbert is hoogleraar op Harvard en legt uit waarom het toch is dat we zoveel moeite hebben om gelukkig te zijn. Dit is niet het zoveelste zelf-hulp boek, waarvan er zoveel van zijn dat je je afvraagt waarom we niet allemaal gelukkig zijn ondertussen. Nee, het gaat juist om die vraag waarom al die zelfhulpboeken zo weinig uithalen. Hij rafelt op een leuke manier de menselijke psyche op het gebied van geluk uiteen.
A blog is nothing special, in fact it so un-special that one must have pretty good arguments to create one these days. Ofcourse, you might think that I will try convince you that I have very unique things to say. Or that I am a very important man. Neither is true. I wish I was, but until that day I am just a regular dutch guy starting another blog. What is it then that moved me to do this?
Hi there all! It’s closure time. I have been back home for a couple of weeks and I have been settling back in my dutch way of life. I moved to a new appartment in the city where I will try to get my master degree. I have been catching up with my administration (the IRS was quite upset with me) and work has been catching up with me. Yes, it is life back home as usual.
Some people call New York City the capital of the world. I do not dare to say that.. but it comes pretty close! This big city is a mix of everything you can find on this planet. Not only all the people that combined speak a 100 different languages, but it is apparent in the shops, bars, churches and restaurants as well. If you live here, well there is not much need to travel anyway.
